Our qualifications ease the teaching load

Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs in English and English Literature makes teachers’ lives easier.

Our English Anthology supports both qualifications. Exam questions are based on texts from the Anthology, helping teachers and students prepare for the exam.
In English Language, there is only one unseen text for students to respond to, and it is compared to a text from the Anthology.
The Anthology is also used for the English Language coursework component, meaning that teachers do not have to source the texts themselves.
In English Literature, there is no requirement to source coursework texts from outside the set text lists. While Pearson Edexcel texts are subject to review over time, we retain consistency to support teachers and do not make frequent changes to set texts, so good-quality teaching resources can be retained and used for longer.

An International GCSE that works for students, too!

The reduction in unseen texts helps reduce student anxiety when it’s time for the exam and makes the exam more accessible. What’s more, by undertaking comparative writing in the exam, students have the same assessment opportunities as their counterparts studying UK GCSE and are well-prepared for A Level.

With a 40% weighting for coursework in both English Language and English Literature, students know to treat it as an important piece of work. And students on a coursework route only take one examination.
