Dual enrollment programs including CTE Pathways
The dual enrollment component of K–12 education is a dynamic and changing part of the landscape. As legislation and initiatives for these programs (including concurrent enrollment and dual credit) are expanding across the US, we see a large increase in these courses being offered and great variability in how they are implemented (everything from early college and middle college to CTE pathways).
Trending Courses in Dual Enrollment
Recent growth in community college enrollment is being attributed to the rising number of dual enrolled high school students participating in these programs. Pearson offers a variety of solutions for 2-year school majors, from the most popular (Liberal Arts/General Studies/Humanities, Health Professions, and Business/Management/Marketing) to some of the fastest growing (like Computer & Information Sciences, Culinary Services, and Mechanic & Repair Technologies/Technicians). And, Grow Your Own (GYO) teacher programs, with dual enrollment courses as early outreach, are another example of how states and districts are using dual enrollment to help fill workforce gaps in a number of industries and professions.

Learning science behind MyLab and Mastering
These digital learning platforms help students learn through:

Active learning
Students learn best when they actively engage with the content, extending their ideas beyond what they were just taught. Problems, videos, and other content (like worked examples and feedback) allow them to practice flexibly applying their knowledge and skills in a variety of new ways.

Feedback
Providing opportunities to practice skills and apply knowledge, while receiving immediate feedback to gauge understanding.

Retrieval practice
Letting students practice retrieving knowledge from their memory. This “retrieval practice” is one of the most effective and efficient strategies for improving learning.

Personalized learning
- MyLab: Personalizing a “study plan” to a student’s level of proficiency, providing additional practice where it will help and offering a unique path for the learner.
- Mastering: Adaptive follow-ups and Dynamic Study Modules (in select Mastering courses) provide personalized learning opportunities that evaluate current student proficiency and adjust what the student practices accordingly.

Scaffolds
Offering a variety of learning supports (or “scaffolds”), ensuring learners have a streamlined and effective learning experience.

Analytics
Helping instructors individualize instruction for each class and student through analytics that reveal which topics for which students may require additional support.
Visit the MyLab and Mastering site for more information.

Revel for dual enrollment
Revel improves results by empowering students to actively participate in learning. More than a digital textbook, Revel delivers an engaging blend of author content, media, and assessment.
- Students read and practice in one continuous experience.
- Interactive content and assessments integrated throughout the narrative provide opportunities for students to explore and apply concepts.
- Mobile and user-friendly, students can learn on the go — anytime, anywhere, on any device.
Learning science behind Revel
This digital learning platform helps students learn through:

Spaced practice
Content in Revel is broken up into manageable amounts that align to specific learning objectives. This helps manage student cognitive load, presenting coherent chunks that are easier to focus on and process.

Active learning
Interactives are embedded throughout, helping to make learning an active experience. Learners can immediately apply and practice what they are learning through simulations, demonstrations of key concepts, and other activities.

Formative assessment
Answering questions can make learning more efficient by providing opportunities for retrieval practice. This is one of the most effective and efficient strategies for improving learning.

Deep processing
Writing is one of the most effective ways to develop, practice, and access critical thinking.
